Independent Real Estate Valuation When It Matters

Handling an estate, trust or inherited property can involve important financial decisions. A well-supported appraisal can provide the independent opinion of value needed to help move those decisions forward.

Date-of-Death Valuations

When real estate is part of an estate, it may be necessary to establish the property's fair market value as of the owner's date of death. Because that date is often in the past, the assignment may require a retrospective appraisal based upon the property and market conditions that existed at that time.

We research relevant historical market information and comparable sales to develop a credible, well-supported opinion of value for the required effective date.

Retrospective Appraisals

A retrospective appraisal answers a different question from a typical current appraisal: What was this property worth on a particular date in the past?

I Inherited a Property. What Do I Do Next?

You don't need to understand the appraisal process before contacting us. Depending upon your circumstances, you may need a historical date-of-death valuation, a current-market valuation, or another type of appraisal.

Call or text 304-881-4047 or email boggsc@boggsappraiser.com. We'll help determine the appropriate valuation service.

Complex Estate Properties

Not every estate property is a typical house on a residential lot. We have experience analyzing acreage and rural land, large or unusual residences, multiple buildings, garages and barns, multi-family properties, investment properties, older properties and properties with limited comparable sales.
